The Buried Village is situated on Tarawera Road, at an easy and scenic 15-minute drive from Rotorua city.

Travel southeast from the city centre along Te Ngae Road towards the airport. At the roundabout, turn right into Tarawera Road and follow the signs for the Blue Lake.

From here, the Buried Village is well signposted. Continue driving past the Blue and Green Lakes towards Lake Tarawera, and you will find the Buried Village on the right hand side of the road.
