Waterfall Trail

Wander the pathways while enjoying pristine native bush, and catch a glimpse of the wild rainbow trout that live and spawn in the Te Wairoa stream.

Highly recommended is the steep walking track that leads down to the base of the impressive Wairere falls which plunge 30metres, deep into the bush-clad valley below.

The area provides a unique opportunity to see how land re-vegetates after a devastating volcanic eruption and how plants flourish in the sheltered, humid habitat created by waterfalls.

For those who choose not to take this more challenging track, there is an equally spectacular walkway option which follows the edge of the 30 metre Waitoharuru Cliffs. Visitors are able to enjoy the most breathtaking easily-accessible cliff top views in the Rotorua region.
