Gift Store

Established in 1931, the gift store, originally “Smith’s Souvenir Store” has one of Rotorua’s most comprehensive collections of authentic carved objects in bone, greenstone and native timber for sale.

Along with greenstone and bone carved jewellery, there’s an impressive collection of books on New Zealand, Maori culture and beautifully illustrated children’s books. Other books for sale include a range of unique publications about the Buried Village, Mount Tarawera and the Pink and White terraces. The Information Centre and reception to the Buried Village is located within the retail store area and our staff has a thorough knowledge of all there is to see and do in the local area and Rotorua district.
